Ocean Pollution and Beach Erosion
During 2018-2019, all Kindergarten and Second grade students traveled to Assateague for an environmental day of learning about the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. Students learned about the animals that live in the ocean and how humans impact their habitat when they leave trash behind after visiting the beach. Information was presented about how sea turtles, sea birds, fish, and marine mammals die each year because they mistake plastic trash for food or suffocate when they become tangled in plastic trash. All kindergarten students went on this field trip in May 2019, 95 students /
April 2019 Second grade students attend this field trip, 81 students

Interactive Assembly by a group called Milkshake -February 2020
The Milkshake duo group sang songs about our environment and kept all of our PreK 3 and PreK 4 students moving. The children danced and sang about water pollution and saving the earth. One of the song lyrics the children sang had the repeated verse “The world won’t fit in the washing machine it’s up to us to keep it clean.” Students enjoyed singing about saving the earth, and protecting our oceans as they played volleyball with a large ball that was a replica of our earth.
February 2020 included 105 students from our PreK 4 and PreK 3 programs.
